Looking closely at the Glulam beam material precedent the Nest We Grow, and our library precedent the Sendi Médiatique, I designed a hybrid library and community space in Auburn New York. Elevated off of the park below, the interior library spaces contains two floors, The open 2nd floor plan library stacks, and the office spaces/assembly space on the third floor. Shifting the grid 45° off of the north axis allows the building to orient the windows to mitigate direct sunlight into the building adding environmentally efficient way of containing the interior temperature. The grid with its oscillating degrees of variation allow for different programs to be connected to the exterior shape. The slope of the site on the west side is 3:1 and on the east side is a 1:1. With these considerations on hand the oscillations of the exterior walls grew from the site conditions at hand. The existing statue protrudes through the first ceiling into the stacks area. The open floor plan on the second floor allows for the stacks to create and divide space to have both group and individual reading areas. On the third story, the administrative offices are aligned on the exterior of the library allowing for an interior cavity creating double hide spaces in the center looking down to the stacks. Creating a multilevel interaction allows this playful relationship between the various parts of the library.
